It's a rainy, cold, typically miserable March day in Kansas City as we kick off this (potentially) exciting (fictional) season.

Rodon and Keller match scoreless outings until the bottom of the fourth, where a Mondesi triple and Gordon sac fly (with a nice catch by Daniel Palka) break the deadlock. It stayed that way until the 6th, when a 2-rbi single from Jorge Soler, and a Yolmer Sanchez error blow the game open for the Royals.

Postgame Notes:

• This might not be as easy as it seemed - some days this team is going to lose to a truly awful Royals team because there's no other option
• Carlos Rodon has no command, but it's still not a bad start thru 5
• To keep things fresh during the season, I like to watch the home team feed when the Sox play on the road. Sometimes it's great to hear other pairings; sometimes, it's Ryan Lefevre and  Rex Hudler, neither of whom are able to pronounce 'roh-don', instead saying 'ron-don'
• I really like watching Whit Merrifield and Adalberto Mondesi. Merrifield has his usual strong game against the White Sox, and Mondesi parties like it's 1909, with 2 triples in the game.
• Yolmer's error kills the White Sox in this one. He eventually wins a Gold Glove for his work at 2B, but it's not based on his play in this game.
• White Sox MVP (using WPA): it's actually Wellington Castillo, for drawing a 9th inning walk from Kevin McCarthy with the score 5-3 and 2 outs in the top of the ninth. That should tell you what type of game this was for Chicago.
• White Sox LVP (using WPA): Yolmer. It wasn't just the big error, it was also an 0 for 4 day at the plate, including the final out of the game, when he represented the tying run.
