April 6 (Game 10): Tim Beckham, Mike Leake Too Much for White Sox
Mariners (5-2) @ White Sox (5-4)
Mike Leake v Lucas Giolito

Luke takes the hill for the second time this season, but can't match the success of his first start. He started the game by walking Mallex Smith and, two batters later, gave up a should-have-been base hit to Domingo Santana. However, Smith was out after forgetting to re-touch second base after Santana's ball fell in, so Luke was saved from any damage.
Giolito proved hittable the rest of the way, though, giving up 4 runs in the 2nd and 3rd innings on hard-hit balls, including a home run by Jay Bruce to start off the 3rd. Jose Abreu (again!) answered in the bottom of the 4th with a long shot to left off Leake. Tim Anderson would also hit his 2nd home run in as many days, but it was inconsequential in a 9-2 final score.
For the visitors, Mike Leake pitched a good game (6 1/3 IP, 0 BB, 6K, 2 solo HR) and Tim Beckham was a few feet short of the cycle - he was thrown out in the 7th inning trying to stretch a double into a triple. (4-5, 1 HR, 2 R, 3RBI).
Final Score: Mariners 9, White Sox 2
Game Notes:
- As of the end of this one, the White Sox are giving up 5.5 runs per game, and that against teams like the Royals, Blue Jays, and Mariners, none of which are good offensive teams.
- Sox loss plus a Twins win over the Phillies drops the White Sox into 3rd in the AL Central (2 GB for second wild card)
- WhiteSox MVP: Abreu. 1-4, HR, 1 RBI. Hitting .333 with team-leading 5 HRs.
- Terrible Day: Giolito. Yikes, this was a bad start. ERA is now 5.71, but is maintaining a K:BB ratio of greater than 2:1.
