I could have used the same picture as last game. Because Abreu was ballin' once again.

After a solid team effort, including the bullpen actually holding down the opposition, the White Sox evened their season record at 4-4. Carson Fulmer was very solid the 1st time through the Jays order and Matt Davidson hit a 2nd-inning solo home run to give the Sox an early lead. The game got interesting in the 5th, with a controversial call on a bases-loaded Yoan Moncada fly ball that Blue Jays leftfielder Curtis Granderson trapped against the top of the fence and subsequently caught while on his back. Moncada was initially called out, but this was overturned on review. The umps awarded Moncada a single, driving a run. Aaron Sanchez then hit Avi Garcia with a pitch to give the White Sox a 3-1 lead.
The Blue Jays tied it in the 6th after knocking Fulmer out of the game and tagging Aaron Bummer with a couple hits. The game stayed in this state until the 8th, when Abreu did what he's been doing all season - kick some ass. Nate Jones and Joakim Soria closed out the game with scoreless innings, and the White Sox held on for the victory.
Final Score: White Sox 4, Blue Jays 3
Game Notes:
- I had forgotten that Carson Fulmer was projected to be a significant piece of the next competitive White Sox team. It was a bit surprising to remember that he was in the rotation at the start of the 2018 season. According to Roster Resource (from Fangraphs), he's projected to make the 2020 26-man roster as a long reliever. Here's hoping he can make good this year, because he's out of options.
- Nate Jones pitched a clean 8th inning, but Justin Smoak and Steven Pearce hit about 780 feet of fly balls off of him for the 1st two outs.
- WhiteSox MVP: Welington Castillo. 1-3, 1 BB, 1 R at the plate, but made his biggest mark behind the plate. White Sox pitchers struck out 10 and walked 1 - he deserves some credit for that.
- Go Get 'Em Tomorrow (LVP): Bummer. He inherited a tough situation from Fulmer in the 6th, but the two line drive singles he allowed were hit hard, and tied the game.
