The White Sox had an easier time with Kluber than with Mike Clevinger back in Game 5, putting the first two men on before the 1st out. A Yonder Alonso single and a bases-loaded walk to Daniel Palka brought the first 2 White Sox runs home, and they went into the bottom of the 1st with a 3-0 lead. The Indians answered with a single run in the bottom of the 1st, but from there, Rodon dominated, at one point retiring 12 in a row.
Jose Abreu knocked in 3 runs with a single in the 2nd and double in the 4th, chasing Kluber from the game with the latter. The Indians bullpen was no more effective than Kluber had been - check out Yoan Moncada's monster home run in the 8th for an example.
Final Score: White Sox 8, Indians 3
Game not chosen: White Sox 5, Blue Jays 14
Game Notes:
- It amazes me that a Cleveland team with so much talent elsewhere can't put together at least an average outfield. The talent is there to be average (Luplow & Naquin aren't bad), but they can't keep those guys healthy, which forces them to drop into their 40-man depth. The talent simply isn't there, and that's a big reason why the Indians have had no real success since 2016.
- Am I the only one who thinks Daniel Palka kinda looks like Sean William Scott?
- WhiteSox MVP: Rodon. His injury problems make it really easy to forget how dominant he can be when he's on. 6 IP, 2H, 0 ER, 1 BB, 9 K.
- Stifler (LVP): Yolmer (5x in the first week). Part of the double-error that led to the Indians first run; also 0-4, 3Ks.
