A lot of things happened in this game, many of them bad for the White Sox. Lucas Giolito left with a hamstring injury after only 2 2/3 innings. Yoan Moncada left injured after being hit with a throw on the basepaths. Jose Abreu ran into an absolutely terrible out at home (TOOTBLAN), with 1 out and Tim Anderson on deck. I wouldn't be mentioning that, except for the fact that Anderson then homered. This was a one-run, extra-inning game - Abreu's run could have clinched it.
However, Joe West made sure that none of this was worth mentioning. Should anyone be unfamiliar with Joe West, umpire Joe West likes to make sure that no one in the stands or watching TV forgets that JOE WEST is umpiring the game. If there is any chance for Him to impose himself, West will take it. In this case, in the at bat following his home run and bat flip, MLB batting average leader Anderson was thrown out of the game for getting hit in the ass. Seriously - Brad Keller drilled him on the butt, then both Anderson and Keller got thrown out for it. West sucks at His job and continually calls attention to Himself. It fucking boggles the mind how He is allowed to continue to pull this shit on the Major League Baseball stage. West sucks at his job.
Final Score: Royals 4, White Sox 3
Other game option: White Sox 2, Athletics 10
Game Notes:
- Before leaving injured, this was definitely Lucas Giolito's best outing.
- Joe West is an awful umpire
- Daniel Palka finally got his first hit of the season, then killed the 8th inning rally by grounding into a double play. Easy come, easy go.
- Welcome to the club!: Josh Osich.
- White Sox MVP: Joe West. When Joe West is on the field, nothing else matters. It's like watching the love child of Jesus, Buddha, and Chuck Norris umpire a game. It's glorious.
- LVP: Joe West. In a Joe West game, one needs to let go of the petty pursuit of judging whether the plebeians played well or poorly; all is subsumed in the glorious presence of Joe West

He sucks at music, too.
