After going down 3-0 to the Royals on a cold April evening, the White Sox bats heated up once again with a 3-run fifth inning rally, keyed by big two-out hits from Leury Garcia and Yoan Moncada, In the 7th, the Royals leveraged Billy Hamilton's speed to take the lead, which held for exactly 1 inning. Tim Anderson led off the bottom of the 8th with a double off Brad Boxberger, then Welington Castillo murdered a Boxberger offering into the rightfield seats. Alex Colome closed things out for the Sox, picking up his 4th save.
Final Score: Royals 4, White Sox 5
Other game option: None
Game Notes:
- Ervin Santana looks exactly like I remember him looking - slow and really wild. Two home runs allowed in the 2nd to give the Royals a 3-0 lead
- Heads up baserunning by Tim Anderson scores the 1st run on a controversial double-play replay review
- The White Sox walked the leadoff man in 6 of the final 7 innings
- Welcome to the Team!: Ervin Santana
- White Sox MVP: Anderson. Led off both rally innings with hits, scored on the disputed double play in the 5th, made a great tag on Hunter Dozier's attempted steal in the 8th, was the pivot on a key double play in the 6th. 3-4, 2 R.
- LVP: Santana. This team really needs better starting pitching. 5 IP, 6 H, 2 HR, 3 R, 3 BB, 3K.
